Position Purpose: The Senior PCB Layout Designer will engage in the PCB design engineering, test and production teams to design the best PCBs for each project.


Title: Sr. PCB Layout Designer

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Lafayette and Boulder, CO

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Work in a team environment providing layout and documentation support for Aerospace/RF/Mil-Spec and commercial PCB designs.
  • Interface with Electrical Engineers, Test Engineers, Mechanical Team and Thermal Analysts, PCB Fabrication and Manufacturing suppliers.
  • Establish effective working relationships within Blue Canyon Technologies to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Tasks include schematic capture, component placement, final ECO release documentation, comprehensive knowledge of high-speed routing, PCB stackup creation, RF/EMI Mitigation layout, BOM scrubs for part issues, electro-mechanical efforts and Fab house CAM responses.
  • Maintaining Altium Vault libraries and new component creation and component validations.
  • Assist PCB Manager in Altium and Layout training of other BCT Layout team members.
  • May be required to perform other PCB design related duties as necessary.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven proficiency with Altium Designer, Altium Nexus or Concord Pro and collaborative PCB Layout Design with managed projects.
  • Highly experienced with high speed routing – DDR2/DDR3, GbE, SerDes, etc.
  • Highly experienced with creating PCB stackups for high speed using the Altium stackup editor.
  • Highly experienced with power supply, motor drive and routing high current PCB’s.
  • Extensive familiarity with MIL-STD and IPC specifications.
  • Highly experienced with techniques for reducing EMI and improving signal integrity.
  • Highly experienced implementing blind and buried via, microvia and HDI requirements.
  • Highly experienced with design of Rigid, Flex and Rigid-Flex PCBs.
  • Highly experienced with library part creation and library maintenance.
  • Highly proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • High School diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of related experience, or a two-year or 4-year technical or college degree with 8 or more years of experience is required.
  • Each higher-level related degree may substitute for two years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years PCB design experience utilizing Altium Designer software.
