Position Purpose: The Manager of PCB Layout Engineering will oversee all aspects of PCB Layout Engineering at Blue Canyon. The Manager will be responsible for technical oversight of PCB Layout engineers, ensuring BCT processes are followed, meeting commitments for work products to programs and product lines, providing mentoring and training to PCB layout engineers, and continuously considering process improvements for quality, cost effectiveness, and schedule agility.

Pay Range: $160,000-$180,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee, review, and provide technical guidance for aerospace, RF, Mil-Spec, and commercial PCB designs
  • Continuously evaluate processes, tools, and personnel within the PCB Layout Engineering area for effectiveness; update processes and tools as needed; adjust workforce as needed
  • Directly supervise PCB Layout engineers, including performance reviews, assessment of training needs, assignment definition, career development, mentorship, and succession planning
  • Manage the PCB Layout Engineering workforce, establish priorities and adjudicate resource conflicts in accordance with company-established prioritizations
  • Establish hiring needs for the PCB Layout Engineering area, evaluate candidates, provide hiring recommendations
  • Create and maintain an outsourcing plan for PCB Layout Engineering efforts, to include criteria for outsourcing work, acceptable suppliers, and methods for overseeing subcontracted efforts, as well as perform make vs buy trades at the component level
  • Overall responsibility to meet PCB Layout Engineering internal-product delivery commitments across BCT programs
  • Other responsibilities as assigned


Required Qualifications/Education:

  • Minimum 10 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering desired; Master’s degree in an engineering field preferred
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Altium Designer, Altium Nexus or Concord Pro, and collaborative PCB Design with managed projects a plus.
  • Experience with high speed routing – DDR3, GbE, SerDes, etc.
  • Experience with power supply, motor drive, and other high current PCB geometries and routing techniques.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD and IPC specifications.
  • Experience with techniques for reducing EMI and improving signal integrity.
  • Experience implementing blind and buried via, microvia and HDI requirements.
  • Experience with Rigid, Flex and Rigid-Flex PCBs.
  • Experience with library part creation and library maintenance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent managerial and supervisory skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

 

Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
