Position Purpose: The Sr. EP Systems Engineer will provide electrical power subsystem engineering and leadership for BCT spacecraft programs.

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $114,000-$160,000

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain spacecraft/space vehicle power budgets
  • Create/confirm power subsystem designs (select/size batteries, solar arrays, etc.)
  • Develop and manage power subsystem and component requirements and verification techniques
  • Develop power simulations and performance analysis
  • Develop interface specifications, CONOPS definition, and other design documents related to power subsystems
  • Oversee Power Subsystem component development, design, and verification efforts
  • Design and assess spacecraft systems for compliance to grounding, EMI/EMC/ESD requirements
  • Evaluate existing and emerging power subsystem technologies
  • Provide input to the EP technical roadmap, which defines the technical evolution desired to maintain a competitive position in the satellite market; confer with management, production, and new business staff to help evaluate roadmap elements for strategic importance and feasibility
  • Provide input to processes, tools within the EP Area for effectiveness
  • Provide support for program design reviews
  • Assist with proposals and facilitate technical exchanges with the engineering team
  • Collaborate closely with technical program leads across diverse domain expertise
  • Support key trades (both cost and technical)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • May include personnel management responsibilities

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science discipline
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • Experience with all phases of the program life-cycle (business development, mission formulation, requirements flow-down, manufacturing, integration and test, and on-orbit operations)
  • System design experience, balancing performance, cost, power, emerging technologies, etc.
  • Experience in design for manufacturability and testability and/or experience working with manufacturing and test organizations in collaborative design framework
  • Ability to perform trade studies and parametric analyses
  • Ability to develop procurement documents (specification, SOW) and manage subcontracts
  • Good documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance
  • Ability to work rapidly and autonomously on projects involving both small and large engineering teams
  • Experience and skills in project definition, simulation, implementation, lab integration and test
  • Must be able to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with emphasis in rapid prototyping and fielding of capabilities

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
