Purpose: The Senior Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the assembly of precise mechanical components for space flight use.


Title: Senior Mechanical Technician

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $32.00 - $42.00/hr

(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Read, understand and execute work instructions to build advanced and precise mechanical assemblies.
  • Collaborate and aide in the development of work instructions with the engineering team.
  • Increase efficiency of builds by understands the engineering intent of the final product and make recommendations on the engineering to meet the intent more efficiently.
  • Be a go to resource to trouble shoot non-conforming issues with the intent to find a path forward with the greatest efficiency.
  • Take ownership and maintain build documentation for assemblies being built. Including filling out work instructions, non-conformance reports and logging time against the applicable work order.
  • Be willing to cross train in multiple areas of specialty.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications/Education:

  • Minimum 8 years related experience, or a two-year technical degree and 5 years related experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • MUST have experience performing precision mechanical assembly
  • Ability to read and work to engineering documentation
  • Familiarity with tools and techniques used for precision manufacturing and assembly
  • Experience using metrology tools (Micrometers, Calipers, Multi-meters, etc.)
  • Applied knowledge of GD&T (ANSI/ASME Y14.5)
  • 5+ years’ experience working in an aerospace production environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring junior technicians
  • Experience using Solidworks and/or Autodesk Fusion 360
  • Excellent manual dexterity, ability to handle small parts
  • Possess strong problem solving and communication abilities
  • High standard of workmanship is a must


Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional laboratory environment in a manufacturing company.  This role uses

standard laboratory and manufacturing equipment such as, microscopes, and various hand-held tools. This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
