Our state-of-the-art spacecraft and subsystems are supporting LEO, GEO, Lunar, and interplanetary missions. 


Blue Canyon Technologies is looking for an enthusiastic full-time permanent on-site SR. PCB Layout Designer to join our team. This role will engage in the engineering and production teams to design the best PCBs for each project.


Title: Sr. PCB Layout Designer

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $90,000 - $140,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Lafayette and Boulder, CO

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work in a team environment providing layout and documentation support for Aerospace/RF/Mil-Spec and commercial PCB designs.
  • Tasks include schematic capture along with component placement, trace routing and documentation.
  • Interface with Electrical Engineers, Mechanical and Thermal Analysts, PWB Fabrication and Manufacturing suppliers.
  • Maintaining Part libraries.
  • Establish effective working relationships within Blue Canyon to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • May be required to perform other PCB design related duties as necessary.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Altium Designer, Altium Nexus or Concord Pro, and collaborative PCB Design with managed projects a plus.
  • Experience with high speed routing – DDR3, GbE, SerDes, etc.
  • Experience with power supply, motor drive, and other high current PCB geometries and routing techniques.
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD and IPC specifications.
  • Experience with techniques for reducing EMI and improving signal integrity.
  • Experience implementing blind and buried via, microvia and HDI requirements.
  • Experience with Rigid, Flex and Rigid-Flex PCBs.
  • Experience with library part creation and library maintenance.
  • Proficient with MS Office tools.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Required Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 10 or more years of related experience, or a two-year technical degree with 8 or more years of experience is required.
  • Each higher-level related degree, may substitute for two years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years PCB design experience utilizing Altium Designer software.


Working conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.
