Blue Canyon Technologies is looking for an experienced Aerospace Sr. Electrical Engineer to join our team. This engineer will engage in the Electrical and Systems engineering disciplines to design analog and digital electronics.


Title: Sr. Electrical Engineer

Position Type: Full Time-non-exempt

Pay Range: $92,000 - $185,000 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)

Location: Lafayette, CO / Boulder, CO

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply innovative design techniques to a variety of analog, digital and mixed signal applications.
  • Write concise design documentation that clearly describes design and implementation while following BCT process.
  • Initiative to identify and complete tasks with evolving requirements and minimal direction.
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of R&D, proof of concept, and production programs.
  • Test and troubleshoot/debug your own or other’s designs in a laboratory environment being cognizant of the test instruments required to efficiently determine electronic functionality.
  • Design to meet EMI/EMC qualification.
  • Schematic capture and board layout knowledge of signal and power integrity.
  • Thorough understanding of design for test and methodologies confirming compliance to requirements.
  • Ability to perform circuit simulation using Spice or variants.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering and 6 or more years electronics design experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree, may substitute for two years of experience.
  • Radiation effects and high reliability electronics design experience.
  • Knowledge of analog-to-digital, digital-to-analog conversion, data acquisition techniques, FPGA knowledge and understanding of HDL, motor/actuator control and battery management.
  • Understanding EMI/EMC and the mitigative design techniques.
  • Familiarity with Altium Designer (Nexus).
  • Design of GSE/STE to test PWA or larger assemblies utilizing Labview or similar.
  • Expertise with Hyperlynx for signal integrity analysis is a plus.
  • Understanding requirements and flow down for system/subsystem/box/board needs is a plus.
  • System modeling and analysis experience using MATLAB, Simulink, or other comparable tools desired.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • You may be required to provide support through all project phases including concept development, requirements generation and analysis, Preliminary Design, Critical Design, Production Readiness, Test Readiness, Design Qualification, Requirements Verification, Production, Formal Acceptance, Delivery, Installation and Product Support.
