Blue Canyon Technologies currently has an opportunity for a DevSecOps Engineer II to join our team.  As a DevSecOps engineer on this team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and tuning the infrastructure supporting our current suite of build and operational tools and will be an integral part of the teams’ future development efforts as we design and build the next generation of MOCSW and FSW tools.

 

The Mission Operations Control Software (MOCSW) and Flight Software teams at Blue Canyon develop and support a variety of cloud-based applications and tools including:

  • Embedded code to control and operate our various spacecraft
  • Web apps for mission planning, pass scheduling, and mission data analysis
  • Databases (SQL and noSQL)
  • Command and Control software

 

Title: DevSecOps Software Engineer II

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: $87,000 - $120,000

Location: Lafayette, CO

What’s a day-in the life look like in this role?

  • Monitor, tune, and maintain the production environment on AWS commercial cloud-base
  • Implement performance, stability, and security monitoring and response procedures
  • Work alongside software architects, developers, and operations team to understand and prioritize enhancements to existing systems
  • Develop and test infrastructure capabilities in support of new development efforts
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code configurations and installation scripts and tools
  • Research and recommend innovative (and automated!) approaches to system administration tasks


What are the required skills and experience?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology or equivalent
  • 4+ years of relevant hands-on experience
  • Solid understanding of security and how to implement best practices
  • Encryption and key management, security protocols, security testing and verification
  • We work as a vendor to Government agencies, so experience with NIST 800.171 and/or other compliance frameworks is a big plus
  • Real, hands-on Amazon Web Service solutions architecture experience with: Multi-account, Commercial and GovCloud, and Organizations, EC2, load balancers, API gateway, IAM, orchestrated containers,VPC setup and pairing, DirectConnect, CloudWatch and other monitoring and response services
  • CI/CD build, scan, and deploy tools in a cloud environment
  • Understanding of how to manage multi-stage environments using Infrastructure-as-code tooling, Terraform preferred
  • Strong understanding of common networking protocols - DNS, TCP/IP, DHCP model
  • Database setup, maintenance, and configuration chops, PostgreSQL and MongoDB preferred
  • Working knowledge of Git, JIRA, CI/CD tools and Agile software development practices
  • Ability to script and code as needed in support of integration and workflow management, Python, Ruby, Javascript, C++ are all welcome. *But, please note this is not an application development role!
  • Bonus points if you have a strong Linux background and can help choose, configure, and maintain Linux images (locally or in the cloud)
