Blue Canyon Technologies is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Guidance, Navigation, and Controls Engineer with a focus on optical navigation, estimation, and associated algorithms.  Qualified applicants will be self-starters who are able to perform state-of-the-art research independently and implement advanced and new algorithms found in the relevant literature.

Pay Range: $96,000 - $160,000  (Salary to be determined by education, experience, knowledge and skills)

Job Responsibilities:

This individual will be responsible to review, implement, analyze, test, and document new advanced image processing and optical navigation algorithms as part of BCT’s autonomous navigation development.  The role also includes development and execution of spacecraft GN&C engineering in all program phases from new business proposals through commissioning and operations. This individual should be able to work independently as well as an interdisciplinary team setting, in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background, as well as working experience in autonomous spacecraft navigation, orbit determination, optical navigation, and image processing.


  • 3+ years of experience in spacecraft GN&C algorithm development
  • Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience in orbit determination, optical navigation, and image processing
  • Strong practical background in spacecraft GN&C
  • Extensive experience with MATLAB/Simulink is required
  • Familiarity with python, C, C++ is desired


  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer vision, or other relevant disciplines with a focus on spacecraft navigation and state estimation.
  • A Ph.D. is desired and may supersede the work experience requirement.

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.
