Job Responsibilities:

  • In this position, you will work on the design, development,  and testing of avionics assemblies. You will design components and structures for electrical assemblies for use in small spacecraft ranging from cube-sat size, to ESPA- class size and larger.  This job involves extensive SolidWorks design and documentation, including creation of detailed fabrication drawings using GD+T, assembly drawings, BOM’s, and creation of work instructions.  This job will include original design work, and some updates and maintenance to existing designs. The position requires occasional use of analysis tools, like ANSYS, and a firm understanding of best practices used when packaging flight electronics.
  • Knowledgeable with different electro-mechanical components and their limits in a thermo-mechanical environment.
  • Knowledgeable in polymeric application and material selection.
  • Knowledgeable in PWB / PWA manufacture.
  • Knowledgeable in PWB layout and connector placement in support of Electrical Engineering and the EE CAD designer.
  • Detail oriented in the preparation of PWB outline drawings, PWA assembly drawings, staking diagrams, and assembly instructions.
  • Familiarity with industry and military standards to best inspect and disposition non-conformances related to design and manufacturing activities.
  • Other engineering responsibilities will be assigned as required by the project.

 

Minimum Candidate Requirements:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience working in mechanical or structural design of precision assemblies (experience with aerospace components is a plus)
  • Proficient using SolidWorks
  • Good understanding of GD+T
  • Knowledge of machine shop manufacturing and tolerancing.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team, manage multiple priorities in a fast paced, small company environment, with appropriate consideration of schedules, quality and cost.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills

 

Education:

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.

 

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.
