Blue Canyon Technologies – Summer in Space Internship

Blue Canyon Technologies (BCT) is leading the way in the New Space revolution!  Our state-of-the-art systems are currently on missions from low Earth orbit to the Moon, near earth asteroids, and to Mars.  We create high-reliability spacecraft with significantly greater performance, much smaller size and at a fraction of the cost of traditional space systems.  We are involved in a wide range of projects for academic, commercial, and government applications.  Join our innovative and dynamic company, as we build the small spacecraft of the future.  BCT is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our BCT Summer in Space Internship Program.

Job Responsibilities:

In this position, you will support the ME staff in the development of structures, mechanisms, and electrical assemblies for small spacecraft, ranging from CubeSat-sized (10 cm square) up to ESPA- class-sized (24 x 28 x 38 inches). Working with our team of experienced mechanical and aerospace engineers you will help with creating drawings, designing assembly fixtures, writing assembly instructions, building bill of materials and other related tasks. Interns pursuing advanced degrees will be exposed to more advanced design and analysis tasks as his/her experience allows.

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must be working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering. Undergraduate applicants must have completed the first 3 years of a degree program’s coursework, and completed the following courses (or equivalent):

  • Materials Science (for engineers)
  • Mechanics of Materials
  • CAD (SolidWorks or similar CAD program)

Position Details:

  • 3-month paid internship
  • 40 hours per week
  • No relocation assistance

Working conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.
