Blue Canyon Technologies is currently seeking an Accountant II with Accounts Payable, Payroll, and General Ledger experience. The Accountant II will have demonstrated experience in AP including reviewing Accounts Payable vouchers, processing employee Expense Reports, managing the company credit card program, overseeing the weekly check run, and filing annual 1099s.  Other experience required includes processing payroll, filing monthly use tax submissions, and performing month-end reconciliations.  The successful candidate must be a team player, able to manage their time effectively, willing to learn new technologies, mentor other staff, and work with limited supervision. In addition, the qualified candidate will work with other departments to ensure continuous and optimal administrative services that meet the firm’s business requirements. 

The Accountant II will be responsible for working with purchasing and end users to ensure correct coding of purchased materials, with an understanding between direct and indirect charges.   It is the responsibility of the Accountant II to manage, monitor and optimize AP and payroll operations to ensure timely processing and month-end period closures.  Our ideal candidate will provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to other Finance team members, and complete additional tasks as assigned.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review Accounts Payable vouchers and release for payment
  • Review employee expense reports
  • Process weekly check runs
  • Manage the company credit card program
  • Obtain and manage a Finance department credit card for purchase needs
  • Ensure proper GL coding and approvals are obtained for AP transactions
  • Work with vendors to settle any disputes that arise as it relates to Accounts Payable transactions
  • Establish credit terms with vendors
  • Follow and create company policies and procedures as applicable to AP transactions
  • Assist with Bi-weekly payroll processing
  • File monthly use-taxes with the State of Colorado and City of Boulder
  • Process and submit annual 1099 filings
  • Train new hires when required for AP / Payroll processes
  • Ensure proper document retention as it relates to Accounts Payable transactions
  • Understand and troubleshoot basic ERP functionality as it relates to Accounts Payable transactions
  • Complete month-end reconciliations
  • Assist with annual audit related requests as needed
  • Support company policies and management decisions with a sense of urgency and professionalism
  • Seek out and participate in internal and external programs that facilitate personal and professional growth

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent related experience
  • Must have demonstrated ability to research and follow up with necessary items
  • Team player with a strong work ethic, outgoing personality and a “can-do” attitude
  • Extremely organized with the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to react quickly to changing priorities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with a month-end and year-end close process
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, V-look-ups, macros, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP

Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filling cabinets and fax machines.
