Blue Canyon Technologies is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Power Electronics Engineer to help our team design innovative solutions for the next generation cubesat and microsat systems. In this role you will engage in the electrical and systems engineering disciplines to design and power conversion electronics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply innovative design techniques to switched mode power conversion.
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment on a variety of R&D, proof of concept, and production programs.
  • Design to meet EMI/EMC qualification
  • Power electronics design, including digital and analog techniques for switched mode and low-noise linear regulation
  • Experience developing and implementing switched mode and linear power electronics designs
  • Schematic capture and board layout experience.
  • Experience integrating and debugging power control systems.
  • Ability to perform circuit simulation using Spice or variants.
  • System modeling and analysis experience using MATLAB, Simulink, or other comparable tools.

Desired Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: solar array to battery management systems, motor controller design, system-level power distribution design, system/board level grounding/shielding and EMC design techniques.
  • Radiation hardened and high reliability electronics design experience.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC qualification testing per military and commercial standards and (e.g. MIL-STD-461, CRISPR 22, RTCA/DO-160, etc.).
  • Experience in design for harsh environments as embodied in common commercial and military standards (e.g. RTCA/DO-160, MIL-STD-810, etc.)
  • Knowledge of device characteristics relevant to power electronics, such as: MOSFETs, GaNFETs, IGBTs, BJTs, JFETs, diodes, various capacitor families, etc.

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering and 10 or more years switched mode power electronics design experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience.
